Buffers Pane Buffers Pane

The Buffers tab in the Preferences dialog has the following options:

SysEx Buffer Size

Specify the number of samples you would like allocated to the System Exclusive buffer. This buffer is the maximum size that Metro will allow for SysEx messages; if you are doing large bulk dumps you should probably increase this number (highest setting is 128K).

Digital Audio Playback Buffer Size

Specify the number of bytes you would like allocated to the Digital Audio Playback buffer. Metro’s default Playback buffer size is 60 kilobytes. Depending on disk speed, increasing the buffer size value may yield a higher Audio Track count.

Digital Audio Record Buffer Size

Specify the number of bytes you would like allocated to the Digital Audio Record buffer. Metro’s default Record buffer size is 60 kilobytes. Experiment with a higher Record buffer size if you experience troubles recording audio into Metro.

Sometimes increasing the number of buffers, rather than their size, improves recording performance. Try increasing the default value of 4 to 5 or 6.
