Add Selection as Groove

Metro’s Groove Quantize implementation allows you to add any selection or track as a new groove. Use the Add Selection as Groove submenu under the Setup menu’s Groove Quantize option in order to add new rhythm grooves to Metro based on the current selection. The grooves that you create are added as a resource to the Metro program itself (this simplifies taking grooves with you if move the Metro application to another computer).

To create a Metro groove:

  1. Select the measures of notes that you want to be your groove.

  2. Choose the Add Selection as Groove submenu from the Groove Quantize command.

  3. Name the new groove in the resulting dialog box and click OK.

  4. The newly named groove is now accessible in the Groove pop-up menu within the Quantize dialog (under the Options menu).

note02.gifNote: Pitch information of notes in a Metro groove does not pertain to Groove Quantize. Only note start times and Note On velocities are relevant when creating and applying Metro grooves.

note02.gifHint: You can Quantize data to an entire track by first adding that track as a Metro groove. After saving the track to a new groove, select the data to be quantized and open the Option menu’s Quantize dialog; select the Groove Named radio button and choose the newly added track (groove) within the Groove pop-up menu.
