Selecting from the Notes palette using the keyboard

You can use the keyboard to select the various symbols of the notes palette, according to the table below:

. (period) toggles augmentation dot on/off

r toggles between note and rest

Met00019.gif n natural

Enter notes using the keyboard and mouse by typing the number key of the note value, then the keys for any of the other options (augmentation dots, triplets), and clicking in the staff where you want to enter the note.

To select rests, select the note value and then press the r key. The rest of the same value will be selected for entry.

To add accidentals to notes already on the staff, press the s (sharp), f (flat), or n (natural) key and click the cursor on the note to which you wish to apply the accidental.
