Placing Events at Precise Locations

You can either specify an insert location before inserting the event or place the event after you insert it.

To specify an insert location before inserting the event:

Metro SE users:

  • Set the insert location by clicking the correct time in the graphic editor before opening the event editor window.

Metro / Metro LX users:

  • Choose Set Selection from the Edit menu (or use Command-=). Then, set the desired location in the dialog box, and click OK.
Or, you can insert the desired event and then adjust its start time to move the event where you want it.

Selecting an event in the Event Editor implicitly selects a time range. Events are inserted at the beginning of the current selection. Therefore, if you select one event and you insert a new event of any type, the new event will be placed at that same time location. For example, if you select a note event at Bar 3, Beat 5, Clock 245 and insert a Poly After Touch event, the Poly After Touch event will be placed at Bar 3, Beat 5, Clock 245. You must then edit the Bar/Beat/Clock start time of the new event to place that event where you want it.

If you want to insert an event near or next to an existing event, be sure to select the existing event; then insert the event you want and adjust its start time accordingly.
