Display Multiple Tracks

You can simultaneously display up to 16 tracks in the Graphic Editor window. To open the next higher-numbered track, click the Add Tracks icon, located to the left of the Time Line directly above the Audible Keyboard (in Notes display). So, for example, if the Graphic Editor window is currently displaying track 2, clicking the Add Tracks icon opens track 3.

Every track shown in the Graphic Editor, regardless of the Data Type displayed, contains a titlebar detailing information about that track, as well as various pop-up menus, buttons, and editing tools. If you want to close a track that you have opened, simply click its Close box in the left of the titlebar. A Close box will not appear when only a single track is visible within the Graphic Editor window.

Here are some hints for displaying multiple tracks:

  • Add tracks by clicking on the Add Tracks icon (up to 16 tracks can be displayed simultaneously).

  • When displaying multiple tracks, close a track by clicking on its Close box (located to the far left of the track's titlebar).

  • When displaying multiple tracks, click the Zoom Box in the upper-right corner of a track's titlebar to expand the track to fit within the entire Graphic Editor window. Click the Zoom Box again to shrink the track back to its original size and restore the previous multiple track view.

  • Select a track to make it active by clicking anywhere inside that track's graphical display.

  • Transfer a selection from track to track by clicking anywhere on a track's titlebar.

  • Vertically resize a track's display by clicking and holding the mouse on the Resize Tool (to the immediate right of the Close box) and dragging up or down.

  • Vertically scroll tracks by using the standard Macintosh scroll bars within each track display (there are no vertical scroll bars in 'continuous data' display modes). Keep in mind that scroll bars will not appear if a track's vertical size is too small to display the scroll bars in the first place; remedy this by enlarging the Graphic Editor window and increasing the vertical size of a track.

  • Change the currently displayed track Number to any other track Name/Number by choosing the Track Name pop-up menu within the track's titlebar.

  • Rename a track by Option-clicking the Track Name pop-up menu within the titlebar; enter in a new name and press the Return key.

  • Change a track's currently displayed data type (Notes, Drums, Controllers, etc.) to show any other data type by choosing the Data Type pop-up menu within the track's titlebar.

  • Reassign the current Output of a track to any other Output by choosing the Output pop-up menu within the track's titlebar.

  • Record-enable, mute, and solo tracks by clicking on the 'R' 'M' and 'S' buttons within the track's titlebar.

  • Loop an entire track by clicking on the Loop button (located next to the 'R' 'M' and 'S' buttons) within the track's titlebar.

  • The Graphic Editor offers a "Zoom Box" in the upper-right corner of each pane's title bar. This lets you zoom any pane to fill the Graphic Editor window for easier editing. Click the Zoom Box again to restore the previous multiple pane view.
