Import Audio File
Import Audio File allows you to import a mono or stereo interleaved audio file into the first
open track in the active Metro Section. Import a mono or stereo AIFF file from any mounted volume, including a CD-ROM or Audio CD. Choose an
audio file within the Import Audio File dialog, click the Play Sound or Preview button if you want to audition the selected sound before importing it. Click the Convert button to import the selected file into the first available empty track.
Metro uses 8 bit integer through 32 bit floating point mono and stereo interleaved AIFF files as its native digital audio file format. All other supported file types must be converted to AIFF during the import process. Supported file types include MP3,WAV, SND Resource, .au, and other audio file types supported by QuickTime.
Metro supports the playback of multiple sample rates and bit rates. Each audio track plays back at its own fixed sample rate. On the fly sample rate conversion ensures audio files always play at their original pitch, but this is not recommended.
It is recommended to work using a common sample rate between audio files, preferably 44.1 KHz (which is the Red Book Audio standard for CD). Working with a common sample rate eliminates the need for on the fly sample rate conversion, which may adversely affect audio fidelity.
For best performance try to keep the sample rate and bit size of all of your audio files the same as the destination audio device.
