Recording Auxiliary Fader Movements
Let’s do something really exciting and automate an effect by recording some aux
fader movements:
- In the Instruments Mixer window, display the Aux 1 window by clicking the window popup menu located in the upper right corner.
- Also in the Instruments Mixer window, find the Automation field in the upper left corner and click Record. The Record button turns gray when it is enabled.
- Press the Spacebar to play your track and, while the track plays, drag one of the output faders up or down to vary the effects send level.
- Press the Spacebar again to stop playback.
- In the Automation field, click the Play button to enable it.
- Press the Spacebar to play your track. The fader should repeat the movements
you recorded.
- Repeat steps 2-4 with a different fader. Metro does not erase the first fader’s movements when you record another fader. Metro only records new fader
movements.
If you want Metro to ignore your recorded fader movements, disable the Play button in the Instrument Mixer windows Automation field. This disables all recorded fader movements in all of the Instrument Mixer windows windows.
The next step in the effects tutorial is Drawing Aux Fader Movements in the Graphic Editor Window.
