Real-time Arpeggiator

Note: The Real-Time Arpeggiator has been completely rewritten and moved from the special menu to the keyboard window. This page documents the functionality of the old arpeggiator.

The Real-Time Arpeggiator arpeggiates notes that you play during recording or playback. You can use a built-in pattern or choose your own.

To use real-time arpeggiation:

  1. From the Special menu choose Real Time Arpeggiator.

The Real time Arpeggiator dialog box appears.

  1. Click the Real Time MIDI Thru Arpeggiation On checkbox to enable the Real Time Arpeggiator, which sends arpeggiated data to the device selected under the MIDI Thru settings in the Transport window.

  2. Choose a note value for the Real Time Arpeggiator from the Value pop-up menu.

  3. Choose an arpeggiation pattern from the Method fields by selecting one of the corresponding radio buttons.

Selecting the User Defined Method allows you to create your own methods using up to 12 Steps in the User Defined Pattern fields. Pattern numbers represent indexes to notes, which are derived by holding down sustained chords on your MIDI controller. For example, a 4 Step Pattern of 1, 3, 3, 2 would play a pattern of C-G-G-E when playing a C major chord.

  1. Set a one bar count off (Setup > Record/Play).

  2. Start Play or Record.

  3. Hold down a chord on your controller.

Metro arpeggiates the chord according to the pattern you set.
