Audio Region Editing
Audio Region Editing is a great convenience when you edit audio or MIDI data.
Metro selects discrete chunks of data and labels them as audio regions. When
audio region editing is enabled (Switches menu), you can quickly drag and drop
pieces of audio or MIDI data without having to select the front and back
boundaries. You can also create your own audio regions.
To use audio region editing:
- In the Graphic Editor window, display an audio track you want to edit.
- In the Switches menu, make sure Audio Region Editing and Show Audio Regions
are checked.
Notice that your audio clip in the Graphic Editor window now has a red square
on the right end at the bottom of the window. This shows where your audio
region ends. If you haven’t edited this audio track before, Metro selects the whole track as an audio
region.
- To move your audio clip anywhere in this or another track, click anywhere
inside the audio region and drag. Option-drag to copy.
If you want to edit smaller portions of your audio clip, turn off Audio Region
Editing or create a new audio region.
To create an audio (or MIDI) region:
- In the Switches menu, turn off Audio Region Editing.
- In either the Graphic Editor or Track window, select some audio data you want
to be able to drag and drop.
- In the Switches menu, turn on Audio Region Editing.
Metro displays your new audio region with a red square on the right end at the
bottom of the window (MIDI regions don’t have this). Now you can drag and drop your new region, or Option-drag it to
copy it.
