Set Selection
Set Selection has two valuable functions:
It enables you to enter exact boundaries of an area you want to select, in
either bars and clock ticks or in samples.
It enables you to capture precisely the boundaries of an area you have already
selected, enabling you to select and edit other areas but still come back to
the precise location where you started.
To set boundaries of a selection:
- In the Graphic Editor window, click the track in which you want to select an
area.
- From the Edit menu, choose Set selection,
The Set Selection dialog box appears.
- Set the boundaries of your selection by either:
- Filling in values in the By Clock fields (the By Sample fields then fill
automatically)
- Filling in values in the By Sample fields (the By Clock fields fill
automatically)
- Click OK.
The selected area appears in the track you chose. You can copy or cut the
selected data and paste it into the same exact location in another track by
clicking the other track and applying the selection boundaries that are stored in the
Set Selection dialog box.
To record the boundaries of an already-selected area:
- In the Graphic Editor or Track window Overview, make your selection.
- From the Edit menu, choose Set selection,
The Set Selection dialog box appears.
- At the bottom of the dialog box, click Capture Current Selection.
The boundary values of the selected area show in the By Clock and By Sample
fields,
- Click OK.
The boundary values are now stored in the Set Selection dialog box.
