Send The Send slider effects how much of the dry (unprocessed) track gets sent to the first Plug-in. The output from the first Plug-in is then routed to the second Plug-in, and so forth and so on. Before the signal is output the Dry signal is added back into the output of the last Plug-in. Pan and overall volume information can be controlled from the Instruments window. Think of this setting as the input amount for the current effects.
