Initial Tempo, Key Signature, and Time Signature Events
In the upper portion of the Section Event Editor window you’ll see settings for Time Signature, Key Signature, and Tempo event types.
These settings display the initial setting for each event type; all of these
initial events are contained in the Section with a start time at Bar 1, Beat 1, Clock
0, or at SMPTE Time 00:00:00:00.
If a Section event is contained at any location other than the beginning of
the Section, it will be displayed in the list of events.
For example, if you enter a tempo change at Bar 1, Beat 1, Clock 0, that event
will be displayed in the Tempo field in the upper portion of the window; if you enter a Tempo event at Bar 1,
Beat 1, Clock 245, that event will be displayed in the list.
Metro’s default initial Section event settings are as follows:
Tempo
120 BPM
Key Signature
C Major
Time Signature
- 4
You can change these default initial settings by clicking the appropriate
field in the Section Event Editor window and entering a new value.
Hint: In addition to using the Section Event Editor window, you can also change
initial settings or enter new events at other locations using the edit dialog box
for each event type. To open the appropriate edit dialog box, click the door on
the Tempo and/or Time/Key Signature settings in the Transport window, or choose the appropriate command from the Options menu. If the time range is set to Bar 1 in the Time/Key Signature dialog box,
the values you enter will automatically become the Section’s initial Time and Key Signature settings. If an entire Section is selected
when you open the Tempo dialog box (which will be the case if no range is
selected in any edit window), the value you enter will automatically become the
initial tempo.
